CE marking VS certification what are the differences?
Actually CE Certifications is a misnomer. There is only CE Marking, this is a mark placed on a product that claims compliance and conformity to the applicable CE Marking Directives and Regulations. They signify that products sold in the EEA have been assessed to meet high safety, health, and environmental protection requirements while the certification. To date, around twenty technical harmonization and regulatory texts (directives or regulations) authorize the affixing of the “CE” marking, covering large categories of products.
While certification of certified products is more reliable and cost-beneficial than cheaper, uncertified products, businesses are often unaware of certification marks and the value they bring. Tests are handled by trusted third parties, certification marks are also important trade channels and marketing tools, certification marks as a guarantee of quality to enlarge their market access.
Product Certification is where a third party (Apave Certification) gives a written assurance that a product, process or service conforms to specified requirements. Certification schemes are typically written to include both the performance test methods that the product must be tested to, as well as the criteria which the product must meet to become certified. The process for certification of a product is generally summed up in four steps:
- - Application (Enquiry)
- - Evaluation (does the test data indicate that the product meets qualification criteria)
- - Decision (does a second review of the product application concur with the Evaluation)
- - Surveillance (does the product in the marketplace continue to meet qualification criteria)
